In 2018 M&R completes its 7th year of continuous support and action for the development of music resources as a protection factor for the young generations of the Palestinian and other refugee communities in Lebanon. The prime actors of the project, Prima Materia and NISCVT, are supported by a large circle of associates, friends, donors, volunteers and sponsors, without which the project could not happen, and to which we express our sincere thanks. In particular, our thanks go to the main sponsor of the project – ‘Taawon’ Lebanon (Welfare Assocation) – and also to Ulaia ArteSud (Rome) through funds made available by the Waldensian Church Foundation Italy, for the support of the music therapy professional training in Assisi.

The 2 Assumoud psychologists, Mohamad Orabi and Liliane Younes, have just completed their 2nd year of training at the Music Therapy School of Assisi. Assisted and tutored by Deborah Parker, they attended the 15 day intensive residential course, and passed all the exams for the 1st year subjects with high marks.
Prima Materia and Beit Atfal Assumoud wish to thank Ulaia ArteSud Onlus, Rome, for the precious financial support through its project “Band Without Borders”, funded by the Waldensian Church Foundation.
We wish also to thank the Centro Educazione Permanente ‘La Citadella’ Assisi and the staff of the ‘Corso Quadriennale di Musicoterapia’, for the warm reception of the 2 students from Lebanon, and considerable organizational, logistic and economic support during their training course.
We have just embarked on a new voyage, thanks to a UE funded Erasmus+ project coordinated by the International Music Council (France) for the development of an online resource centre and specialized training course for psycho-social music interventions in deprived and marginalised communities, in Europe and beyond.
We are proud to participate in a very strong partnership, together with IMC, Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy (UK), Moviment Coral Catalan (Spain), Euridea Education Agency (Italy) and of course our Palestinian partner NISCVT ‘Beit Atfal Assumoud’ (Lebanon).

2 music therapy training students from the Assisi school will be with us in Lebanon in late August, working in Saida with Mohamad Orabi and the team there.
We have so many friends in Lebanon now. We’re always so happy to return and to continue our work with Beit Atfal Assumoud and the Palestinian refugee community.
We’ve just attended Assumoud’s 9th Annual Conference, and conducted follow-up meetings for project planning.
